Why a Rhinoplasty?

The main purpose of a cosmetic rhinoplasty is to improve the appearance of the nose, changing its shape and, within limits, reducing its size. A septoplasty (correction of a deviated nasal septum) can be performed together with the rhinoplasty, to improve breathing problems or to correct severe deviations of the nose.

How it is done

Traditionally, most of the scars of a rhinoplasty have been positioned inside the nose, at least until recently when the so-called open rhinoplasty has become more popular. An open rhinoplasty involves one small external scar at the base of the nose, and it is generally preferred when greater precision with the remodeling of the nasal tip is required. The rhinoplasty can be performed under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation..

Healing period

After the procedure a small protective splint (generally made of plastic or metal) will be positioned on the bridge of the nose, and nostril packs will be inserted. The nostril packs are generally removed after 24 hours, or longer if a septoplasty has been performed. The protective splint is removed after 7-10 days, together with any external sutures if present. The pain from the rhinoplasty is surprisingly moderate, but bruising and swelling can be significant, at least for the first 10-14 days.

Duration of the result

The result of the rhinoplasty is normally stable and long lasting, keeping in mind that the nose will still change physiologically with age.

Cost of rhinoplasty

The cost of a rhinoplasty starts from 7,000 KYD. As all the cosmetic surgery procedures are highly personalized, please consider that these prices are guidelines only and may vary for each individual case, depending on the exact procedure needed, the type of anesthesia and the length of the hospital stay.
