Chin Augmentation (Genioplasty)

Why a Chin Augmentation?

A chin augmentation, also called genioplasty, can be performed to increase  the projection of the chin. Aesthetic genioplasty is normally performed to obtain a more balanced facial profile. A cosmetic genioplasty is often combined with a rhinoplasty in a single procedure.

How it is done

A small silicone implant is inserted through an incision made inside the mouth or, more rarely, under the chin itself. Alternatively, with a slightly more complex and invasive technique, an osteotomy (fracture) of the chin is performed, and a segment of the jaw bone is moved forward. This removes the need for an implant. The genioplasty with a silicon implant can be done under local anaesthesia, local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on the preference of the patient. There is no need for an overnight stay at the hospital and the procedure can be planned in day surgery.

Healing period

Slightly compressive dressing for 3-4 days. Mild swelling for 10-14 days.

Duration of the result

Stable over long periods of time. After many years (at least 10-15) it is sometimes possible to see a slight reduction in the projection of the chin due to bone resorption.

Cost of chin augmentation

The cost of chin augmentation starts from 5,500 KYD. As all the cosmetic surgery procedures are highly personalized, please consider that these prices are guidelines only and may vary for each individual case, depending on the exact procedure needed, the type of anesthesia and the length of the hospital stay.
